Day 19 ~ Be Careful What You Wish For
It's Day 19 of the Be Yourself Writing Challenge with Megan Macedo.
Today's writing prompt is to tell a story about a time you got what you wanted but it didn't work out well for you.
If you've being following me on Facebook or LinkedIn, you'll see that I've had a busy week of travel and work last week. Followed by an active weekend. Last night I was floored, feeling under the weather. Which is very unusual for me. My mind and body groaning with the strain I have put them under.
Today I've 'taken the day off', which is unusual as a Freelancer as my desk is a few feet away from my sofa where I lie, blanketed, head resting propped up with cushions. Gazing at my world inside and outside.
If I don't work, I don't get paid.
Yet fitting my oxygen mask first is something I regularly quote in my Mental Wellbeing workshops.
Self-care being the ultimate priority when developing our relationship with ourself.
Healthy body; healthy mind.
I feel I've let that slip in my eagerness to follow my working leads.
I'm frustrated since I have lots 'to do'.
I try 'to do' yet nothing comes.
I've people to see; an event to attend.
Yet I say no.
I'm just not up to it.
I'm writing this in between sips of Lemsip. As the day has gone on, my head has felt a little less heavy and I'm a little less shivery.
I've watched the snow flurries land; settle and melt away as the sun comes out. The sun that magnifies the droplets of melting snow on the budding plants. The spring flowers closed today. Too cold for them. Perhaps they've heard of the beast of a storm that is due. They're proactively protecting themselves.
Blanket wrapped around me as an extra layer of protection from the outside snow flurries, the words 'be careful what you wish for' are playing with me in my head.
After being away last week, I realise now that the pace was a fast one. A pace that I had left behind after leaving my corporate job last year. I realise that what I really wanted was to slow down just a little bit. To pause and breathe in between my travels.
So that's what I've being granted.
And I don't like it!
My body hurts.
My head hurts.
I think back to the time I yearned for my life to slow down. Working abroad whilst at University. In my summer job 6 days a week. Full on days with an active social life. I remember the point where I did think that I just wanted a rest. I was tired. Yet I didn't have the skills to know how to rest!
Rest is what I got. 4 days in hospital of a rest. Not quite the rest I would have planned for myself. That's what the doctor and the universe prescribed. You can read my further exploration of that in Day 7's blog 'Not Missing My Second Chance'.
Be careful what you wish for.
When I'm coaching, our starting point is to explore what you do want. And gently move the focus away from what you don't want. The very act of focusing on what you want more of, will increase your chances of achieving those wants and desires.
Clients often come to me at a crossroads in their life and career. Wanting guidance on where to step next into their unknown edges. From time to time, a client may decide that they will figure things out themselves. That they don't need the coaching or training.
Yet Einstein said that;
'Problems cannot be solved with the same mind set that created them.'
In order to ensure that your next steps are totally aligned and balanced with who you are and who you want to become, then coaching will work it's magic on you. In a way that you will probably least expect. Change can happen in an instant or gradually over time.
If you want to make sure that you spend time listening to the whispers within you. That ineffable force that is spurring you on to connect with me, then I can hold space for you.
If you would like to be expertly guided deep within yourself, bringing your intangibles to a tangible conclusion, I hold a structure as a Certified Soul Based Coach around which I can support you.
Because I firmly believe that;
'Where attention goes, energy flows'.
Be careful what you wish for.
It just might happen.
Focus on what you want more of in your life.
