I used to hide behind my mother's skirt as a child. Particularly when my father came home from his days' work. The local nursery school had closed down so I had the luxury of staying at home until I went to school at the age of five.

My colleague told me once that if I really knew how great I was, I wouldn't be working there, in the corporate job where I worked.  I took this as a jovial insult at the time, with the choices that I had made to say yes to an amazing job opportunity!

In reality, I wasn't yet seeing what she saw in me. It was outside of my field of awareness. Hidden so deep; not yet discovered, it was unknown to me.

Johari's Window is a training model I sometimes introduce people to. Created by Joseph Luft and Harry Ingham, it's a way in to demonstrating the complexity of who we are in a simple (yet not simplistic) was. From what's known, blind, hidden or unknown about ourselves.

Donald Rumsfeld infamously (or rather controversially) summed it up in response to media questions in 2002:

"There are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns, that is to say we know there are some things we do not know.  But there are also unknown unknowns, the ones we don't know we don't know."

There is so much that we don't yet know about ourselves, that's hidden deep within. As a Soul Based Coach, it's my job to facilitate the unearthing of your hidden gems within, so that you can bring your magic presence to the world.

What's hiding within you waiting patiently to be discovered?

Because, as David Whyte poetically puts it:

"Everything is waiting for you."

To you and your journey into the soul truth of who you are,
