The Lollipop Moment
It was a sweet moment.
I was presenting on the topic of Authentic Leadership at a Conference.
I had come across Drew Dudley's TED talk on Everyday Leadership and his lollipops. I got it instantly. This was my inspiration.
Instantly I visualised the session. I talk. Drew Dudley talks. The attendees create their own lollipops from paper, sticks, get creative whilst tapping into the significance of celebrating their own lollipop moments. The times when somebody helped make their life better and that changed the course of their life.
I had such a time. I just didn't know it then that the conversation would change the course of my life. Wanting a different challenge in my career, I approached my boss who encouraged me to step out of Investment Banking and into Training. No way I said. Stand up and speak? Teach people? No. That's too big a step. You're having a laugh!
Two weeks later, I was settling into my new role, with much to learn within the training department - an internal career move. It felt so scary and so right. It was such a big lollipop moment for me since it changed the course of my career. I didn't know then that 13 years later, I would be stepping out again into the world of freelance coaching and training with many lollipop moments in between.
Back to the Conference, which was five years ago now, what touched me most about that session at the Conference, were two things;
1. How people shared their stories with each other on how others had changed their life.
2. How creative people were in creating their paper lollipops!
Given permission, people let loose, got creative and shared deep messages.

Let's redefine leadership as an everyday occurrence.
Leadership transcends title; position and hierarchy. Do not wait for any of these. You don't need them. You already are a leader. Celebrate every moment that you lead in all that you are.
We are all leaders and have the capacity to become better, more authentic, creative leaders. We can help make other's lives a little bit better each moment.
Just imagine that impact that will have on yourself; your team; your department; your business. Celebrating each moment that you take ownership of your power and show others how to do the same.
You are a leader.
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?" - Marianne Williamson
It's Sunday evening. As we head into another week, how will you celebrate your lollipop moments? How will you tap into your power? How will you shine your light so that you can lead and guide others to do the same?
Be your brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous self. In being you, you inspire others to do the same. There's no time to lose.
I'm here when you would like to learn more about leadership training and coaching - to draw out your innate leadership powers.
