There's an Elephant in the Room

She was hopping about, holding her toe.

Ouch.

"What happened?" I asked.

"I stubbed my toe." She pointed to the floor by the kitchen cupboard. There, on his side, was an elephant.

There's an elephant in the room?

At least we saw it this time.

At least we were aware.

Of that great big white tusked elephant

That was lying over there.

I picked the elephant off the floor

And put it on the stair, so

we could lean a little closer, and

examine the whole affair.

I thought I'd share with you today

Something about my plight.

Because you see

All kinds of elephants

Are lurking day and night.

This elephant wants acknowledgement

This elephant yearns for care.

To be seen and noticed standing tall,

In a corner over there.

Next time this elephant reveals itself

In your corporate office room.

You have a choice

I urge you to

Be bold; be brave.

Shout it loud.

T H E R E ' S A N

E L E P H A N T

I N

T H E

R O O M.

I had so much more

to say today.

About this metaphor

Yet now,

my final words that flow

Ask you to

dare to care

about this metaphor's welfare.

It's lurking

right under your nose.

That elephant over there.
